About this site

A short, honest account of why this site exists, who built it, and the four things it will never do.

The short answer. This site exists because the families we know who have lived through a discharge crisis say the same thing afterwards: I needed one calm, plain-English page that told me the pathway, who pays, and what to say on the phone. I could not find it. So we built it.

Why this site exists

UK families face roughly 50,000 emergency care home decisions a year. Most are decided in 48 to 72 hours, by a family member who has never thought about social care, on a phone, in a hospital car park, late at night. The information that exists is fragmented across NHS, council, charity and provider sites, each written for a different audience. This site joins it up.

Who built it

EmergencyCareHome.co.uk is built and operated by Digital Signet, an independent UK reference-site publisher. We build sites in regulated sectors where the public good is information clarity, not lead generation.

The four things this site will never do

  • Sell your contact details to providers.
  • Take referral fees from care homes for listing them.
  • Publish live vacancies we cannot verify in real time.
  • Use a fake clinical byline. If we have not yet commissioned a named reviewer, we say so.

How the site is funded

Funded by Digital Signet. May carry context-appropriate affiliate links to independent services (e.g. SOLLA-listed care fee planners, OPG-registered LPA-drafting services). Clearly labelled when present. No affiliate relationship of any kind with the care providers listed in the vendors index.

What we want feedback on

The triage tool's pathway accuracy, the call-script wording, the missing scenarios. Email hello [at] digitalsignet.com with the page URL and the change you would make. Every email is read.
